Jesus’ ninth parable describes His servants: pastors, ministers, and leaders who are charged with the affairs of His kingdom on earth. The servant’s duties include the timely nourishment of God’s creation with appropriate food – the Word of God, and the encouragement and support they require to stay holy and pleasing to God!
In this parable, the Lord Jesus advises His followers not to get carefree and forgo their responsibilities as caretakers, guides, mentors, and great models for those who are young in the faith, and for those who do not YET know the saving grace of God!
Are you being faithful to your call as a child of God?
Are you watchful and vigilant for the second coming of your master?
Are you adequately taking care of those you have charge of? Are you nurturing, teaching, and supporting them?
Or…..
Are you living a life of ease on the premise that the time of your master’s return is not known or imminent?
Are you acting ignorant of Christ’s expectations of you because you know that the ignorant will not be judged as severely as the informed?
Are you taking God’s infinite wisdom for granted; are you mocking God?
Do you not know that so much has been given to you? Because of this, a lot more is expected of you.
Jesus promises that the faithful servant will be rewarded with much, and the unfaithful servant will be punished severely.
Be wise today; faithful, steadfast, hardworking, and expectant of your Lord’s return. We do not know the exact time He will come back, but we know the time is near! Current global happenings point to His imminent return.

Lesson of the Week

1. Let us be wise; let us faithfully lead and take care of those entrusted to us (1 Timothy 4:12-16).
2. God has given us so much; He expects us to yield enduring fruit (John 15:14-17).
Stewards and servants are caretakers; they look after their master’s property until His return. In doing this, they take leadership, teaching, providing, supporting, and encouraging those in their care.
Who is in your care? Your neighbor and everyone you come in contact with!
And what should you do for, and with them? Let them see Jesus in you, feel the Holy Spirit around you, and commit to Him! Whoever wins souls for Jesus is very wise (Proverbs 11:30).
When we mirror Christ in our words, actions, and intolerances, we are being faithful and wise servants.
Let us motivate each other this week to speak and act like Christ, loving, forgiving, and supporting those we interact with, and being anything we need to be on the chance that one more soul would be added to the Kingdom of God.
God has forgiven us, redeemed us, promoted us, and given us enormous responsibilities; at least until His Son Jesus comes back. Let us mirror it all to others; because to whom much is given, much is also required!
Be wise, faithful, and fruitful this week, and may the Lord empower and grant you victory.

Weekly Nugget: “And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.” (Luke 12:42-44; NKJV).
