JESUS' PARABLES: LAMP ON A STAND

The world is full of people who want to succeed and be celebrated! I happen to be one of them. But I have learned in my walk with God that success is just the beginning; He wants me to willingly give a helping hand to others as I enjoy His blessings.
God wants me to place my lamp on a stand so it can illuminate the way for all. He calls me the light of the world. God wants us to enable others to maximize their potential and well-being.
Certain scenarios in scripture raise some questions: was Moses a lamp for Joshua, Eli for Samuel, and Elijah for Elisha? These men taught their protégées the ways of God, and were instrumental to their success as God’s servants.
Unfortunately, we want to succeed, but we do not want others to be as accomplished as we are, or better! We have learned to kick the ladder down as soon as we ascend to the top; we cover the lamp so it does not illuminate the path for others to travel on also.
Jesus appropriately modeled how we must act by teaching His disciples everything He knew, and empowering them to go into the world and perform greater deeds than He did (John 14:12-17).
He wants us to not only succeed spiritually and physically, but to help others succeed in such a way that only God is glorified. We do this by guiding others in humility on the path of success, teaching, supporting, and inspiring them to live lives that bring honor and glory to our Heavenly Father.
Will you commit to sharing your resources with others, knowing that the resources belong to God? Will you let your light shine by placing your lamp on a stand for all to see? Will you be like Jesus? I will!

Lesson of the Week

1. Shine (Isaiah 60:1).
2. Humbly and openly share the secrets and fruits of your good fortune with others (Isaiah 61:1-3).
3. Give God all the glory (Isaiah 42:6-8).
God has given you uncommon wisdom and insight; share it with others so they too can be blessed. Therein lies true love for one another.
In sharing, do so with humility and with tact, so others can readily receive your help. God is looking for faithful treasurers who will oversee His treasure and distribute freely to His children. Distribute His joy, peace, wealth, and health.
The Lord loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7), and blesses an anonymous giver (Matthew 6:1-4). He promises to slake the thirst of those who water others (Proverbs 11:25), and to reward them with so much more (Luke 6:38)!
I encourage you to place that lamp upon a stand, and let your light shine as a blessing to others; the promises of God will surely pursue and overtake you this week.
Blessings from the Throne of Grace.

Weekly Nugget: “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16).
