JESUS' PARABLES: WISE & FOOLISH BUILDERS

It is a well-known fact that low buildings are erected on concrete platforms at best, while tall buildings have very deep foundations. In the world of construction, skyscrapers require very comprehensive underground preparations so as to carry the weight above the ground. The taller the building, the deeper the foundation!
Jesus underscored this when He commended the man who built his house on solid rock, and classified as foolish the man who built his house on sand or earth.
Are you preparing well for college, marriage, children, career, or retirement? Or are you leaving everything to chance? A lot of us want to achieve success quickly and effortlessly, forgetting that whatever costs you little to obtain has little value also, and can be lost as easily as it was gathered.
I have seen people cheat in exams, and do themselves out of the prerequisite knowledge for holding down a good job. I have seen others lie to obtain money and favor, and lose the one thing they value above all else – respect of family and friends. I have also seen others make money unethically, and not find the peace and health required to enjoy their success.
Success and recognition by any means does not satisfy, but a man who builds diligently and patiently enjoys job satisfaction, respect, and peace within his family, and in his old age.
Are you steadfastly living a life that pleases God, in the hope that Heaven will be your final abode, or do you think you can hoodwink God (Galatians 6:7)? Pay the price of holy living today, and lay a solid foundation for your final abode when your time on earth is done. Be a wise builder; build on the Rock – Jesus!
Lesson of the Week
1. Prepare patiently and well (1 Timothy 6:11-12).
2. Work hard and persevere through tough times (Proverbs 22:29).
3. Keep your eye on the prize (your goal), do your groundwork well, and do not give up (Hebrews 12:1-2).
A man who does not prepare is preparing to fail (author unknown). But when a man persists while making an effort, it is usually crowned with success. He who dares; wins!
God has promised a great deliverance for those who stay holy, and unspeakable blessings for persevering to the end (Revelations 3:10-12).
This week I encourage you to do things the right way by building a solid foundation; by patiently doing your homework, working at it through thick and thin, and focusing on your goals. So many people believe you can do it; God has given you the strength and knowledge, so go for it!!
Prepare well, dig deep, build well, win, and may the peace of the Lord be yours this week, and always.
Blessings from God’s Throne of Grace.
Weekly Nugget: “He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.” (Luke 6:48-49; KJV).
